CATTLE ON ROADS

DANGER TO PUBLIC MAGISTRATE’S OPINION Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. "I am satisfied tha.t large mobs of cattle on roads within the borough are a nuisance to the inhabitants, impede passage of the public- and are a danger to users of streets." This was the text of an important judgment delivered by Mr. E. D. Mosley,' S.M., this morning in a case in which three defendants were charged with driving mobs, of cattle more than 50 in number through the Riccarton borough, contrary to the by-laws. The evidence satisfies me,” said Mr. Mosley, “that small mobs of cattle up to 50 in number can be more readily controlled than large mobs of several hundred.”
