Captain Alic Beufve, an ex* New Zealander, who had lived in Paris since the war, committed suicide by jumping from the Arc de Triomphe. He was killed' instantly. He was the son of a former French Consul at Wellington, and was educated at King's College, Auckland. Captain Beufve served in France with the Otago Mounted Rifles. He inherited several thousands of pounds from his father, but the will was the subject of litigation. His mother expresses the opinion that he committed suicide dramatically in order to draw attention to the litigation. He leaves a widow and child.
