MORE TRAVELLERS

RAILWAY FIGURES DECREASE LESSENED (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, To-day. Reviewing traffic statistics the “Railway Magazine” states that the position with regard to the number of ordinary passengers carried has improved considerably in the last five months. While the decrease up to November 12 was over 309,000, by March 3 it had been reduced to 278,000, indicating the effect of the special efforts made by the department through introducing motor services, excursions and publicity. The rate of decrease in passenger revenue has also been lessened.
