GERMANS APPREHENSIVE ABOUT “DAWN” PICTURE
EFFECT IN AMERICA MAY REAWAKEN FEELING (United. P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. WASHINGTON, Wed. Fearful lest the exhibition of the British film “Dawn” should reawaken anti-German feeling, the German diplomatic and consular officials are making renewed efforts to prevent its showing. The State Department has taken no official cognisance of the growing protests, and will not do so unless It is formally approached. The German Embassy is considering taking this step, though it is reluctant to arouse public discussion similar to that which occurred in England. In the meantime, the German Consulate at New York has succeeded in exacting a promise from many important theatres not to exhibit the film.
