EXCHANGING TEACHERS. —The executive of the Ontario Education Association has decided in favour of the exchange of school teachers between various parts of the Empire.—A. and N.Z.-Sun. BOUT POSTPONED. —Billy Grime’s next match fixed for April 13 has been postponed owing tp the fact that the Australian boxer has had an operation performed on his nose. His manager believes this will facilitate his breathing and improve his condition.— A. and N.Z. LABOUR’S PROMISE. —The Australian Labour Conference decided that one of the first acts of the Labour Party, if it was returned to power in the State elections, would be to legislate to provide unemployed insurance.—A. and N.Z. CHOPPING CHAMPION-—At the Sydney Agricultural Show’, L. Appo won the Australian wood-chopping championship with a standing "'cut of 15-inch logs in 60 seconds. —A. and N.Z. WAR LOAN CONVERSION. —The Australian Treasury is preparing for the conversion of the second war loan of £21,000,000, falling due in September next. —A. and N.Z. GOOD SEASON IN N.S.W.— Following the recent drought and heavy rains, pastoralists of the far-western districts of New South Wales state that they are experiencing the best season for many years. The restocking of sheep and cattle stations is proceeding apace.—A. and N.Z. FRENCH AIRMEN.—Th© French airmen, Lieutenant Costes and Captain Lebrix, have reached Hanoi, in Tongking, French lndo-China, after a non-stop flight from Tokio. The distance is about 2,500 miles and the time occupied was 33 hours.—United Service. CROSSED AFRICA ALONE. —The English airwoman, Lady Heath, who has been forbidden to continue her flight to London without an escort, has so far crossed Africa alone. The continuation of her flight will involve crossing the Mediterranean. —A. and N.Z. MIGRANTS FROM MALTA. —The estimates which are at present held up by the action of the Malta Senate in adjourning before supplies had been voted contain provision for the appointment of a Commissioner of Migration in Australia. It was stated in the course of the debates on the estimates that the Government intended to appoint Captain Curmi who is now attached to the Malta Emigration Department.—A. and N.Z. ■SHIPPING HOLD-UP.—More than 300 men are now idle as a result of the marine cooks’ dispute on the three Huddart-Parker steamers, the Ulimaroa, Zealandia and Corio. It is stated tliat unless the dispute is settled in a few days the Inter-State Steamship Owners’ Fedei’ation will apply to the Federal Arbitration Court for cancellation of the cooks’ award. —A. and N.Z.
