AUCKLAND TOURNEY YESTERDAY’S RESULTS Section play in the three competitions of the Auckland Bowling Centre’s tournament, the Easter fours, executive fours and first-year championship, were concluded yesterday. In the Easter fours, rinks that have scored seven wins or over will meet in the inter-section play. In the executive fours, two rinks tied at the head of each section. The final of the first-year championship will be decided between Scown, of Mangere, and the winner of a game between Leather, of Rocky Nook, and Buchanan, of Carlton, who were level at the head of their section. Play at Whangarei In the 'Hikurangi Bowling Club's Easter tourney the section winners were tile rinks skipped by Taylor (Hikurangi), Kells (Hikurangi) and Orr (Whangarei). On- drew the bye in the semi-final and Taylor, having rather easily disposed of Kells, met Orr in the final. Orr’s rink won by 19—15, after an excellent game. Otorohanga Bowling In a progressive pairs tournament played off on the Otorohanga Club's green on Friday, Porter was the winner among the skips, with five wins out of five. Murdoch won the leads’ section, with four wins out of five. Another progressive pairs competition resulted in J. Walker winning the skips’ section with four wins. Among the leads Tozer and Waterton won 3 out of 4. In the play-off Tozer won. MANGERE CLUB OPEN TOURNAMENT Good entries have been received by the Mangere Bowling Club for the open full rink tournament, which is to be held on April 19, and the list will be closed now at any time. There
have been many complimentary remarks passed at the splendid condition in which this green is at present, bv bowlers who played on it in the Easter fours tournament. Some of the players who have travelled New Zealand during the season express the opinion that the Mangere green is undoubtedly one of the best playing greens in the Dominion at present. PAPATOETOE CLUB EASTER PAIRS TOURNEY A very enjoyable progressive pairs tournament was held on the Papa toe - toe bowling green yesterday. There was a large attendance of members anc; some interesting play was witnessed In the skips’ section, Hall and Andrew tied with four wins and one loss each, and on the aggregate Ilal claimed the honours by 63 to Andrew”. 61. In the leads’ section, Watson, Boot' and Moe tied with a total of four wir. and one loss each, and on the aggregate the trophy went to Watson wit; 62, against 61 and 54 respective!', scored by Booth and Moe.
