DEVONPORT DOMAIN

IMPROVEMENTS SCHEMED The Devonport Domain Board is anxious to improve further the playing fields on the Domain. It is schemiiig to plough up the fields used by the Rugby and League codes as soon as play is finished this year. Temporary field tile drains are to be laid immediately to help improve matters. The last season found the grounds very wet, and as a greater number of matches was played there than anywhere else, the grounds were left in bad condition. The Rugby Union is willing to help meet the cost of improvements. The Cricket Club is also ready to pay £SO towards the cost of ploughing up the outfields of the cricket areas after next summer. The grounds keeper reported last evening that paspalum and other unsuitable grasses had got a big hold and it would cost a considerable sum to rid the fields of the unwanted grass.
