BOOTS FOR ALL BLACKS
MADE IN ENGLAND MANUFACTURERS PROTEST Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Wed. Criticism of the New Zealand Rugby Union’s action in equipping the All Blacks who will tour South Africa with imported boots and jerseys was voiced by members of the Manufacturers' Association. It was said that Dominion manufacturers had been given no opportunity for'tendering, although a Christchurch firm had supplied each member of the team with a gift pair of boots. The general supply, however, was to be English boots. The. following resolution was carried:—“That the Manufacturers’ Association views with alarm the fact that the New Zealand team is to go away with imported boots when those of local manufacturers are as good, if not better.”
