LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION MEETING OF AUCKLAND EXECUTIVE “It is only by the personal support and sympathy of the individual members of the Union, either by donation, or better still by the introduction of new members, that the union can advance or even reinforce the position it has gained in the past years by dint of real hard work and self-sacrifice of a few of its advocates,” said Mr. F. C. Jackson, honorary secretary of the Auckland branch of the union, at the executive meeting held to-day, and at which the annual report and balance sheet were presented. Mr. Jackson pointed out that the union’s activities had been mostly educational during the year, find the results had been very gratifying. Literature describing the work of the league had been circulated to teachers and scholars of the primary schools, public meetings and luncheons had been held and a series of lecturettes had been broadcast from the Auckland station. All branch libraries had been supplied with literature. Lantern lectures, descriptive of the League of Nations activities, had been shown. The annual balance sheet showed a credit balance of £l9 Is lOd as against £lO Is 4d at the commencement of the year. Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M.. presided at the meeting, which decided to commence the luncheon season early in May.
