On March 22 Professor Bendandi, the noted seismologist, predicted that new and powerful earthquakes were imminent and that a great telluric movement would occur simultaneously in Southern Europe and in some of the submarine zones of the South Pacific. He added that April would be the most uneasy month in many zones of the globe. On the night of Thursday last a violent earthquake, the worst that had been experienced since the great disturbance of 1911, struck terror into the inhabitants of the Mexican capital. The shock occurred at 10.15 p.m., and lasted two minutes. Ten persons were injured and minor damage was done in the city.
