A proposal for the union of Canada and Newfoundland was endorsed by the Senate on Thursday. Senator C. E. Capper introduced a resolution that the time had come for them favourably to consider union. He said he -would like to entertain a vision when not only Newfoundland, but also the West Indies and all the units of the Empire on this side of the Atlantic would be consolidated in one great dominion. Senators agreed that the offer must come from Newfoundland.—A. and N.Z.
