; NORGROVE FOR TRIAL ACCUSED’S STATEMENT CHALLENGED i Allan George Norgrove, aged ! 27, charged at the Police Court yesterday with the murder of his > sister-in-law, Ernestine Mary Norgrove, reserved his defence, and I was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. IN the afternoon, evidence was given by Constable J. V. Leslie, to whom Norgrove surrendered at the Ponsonby Police Station. Witness said he took a statement from accused concerning the tragedy. In cross-examination by Mr. Allan Moody, witness admitted that he had not warned accused that the statement would be used as evidence aerainst him. . , Acting as coroner, the magistrate, Mr W R. McKean, returned a verdict at the inquest that Mrs. Norgrove had died Of injuries caused by blows stiuck by the accused.
