MARKET REPORT
PUKEKOHE PRICES (Special to THE SUN) PUKEKOHE, Saturday. The Franklin Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, Limited, Pukekohe, report that at the weekly sale at their mart yesterday weaner pigs brought 3s 6d to 6s 6d, and forward store pigs 295. Poultry was entered in good numbers and found a ready sale. Light hens realised Is 2d to 2s Id; heavier hens, 2s 4d to 2s 7d; pullets, 6s; roosters, 3s Id to ss; and ducks, Is Bd. Vegetables were in good supply. Cabbages brought s a dozen; carrots, parsnips and beetroot, Is to Is 8d a dozen bundles; cucumbers, 9d to 4s a dozen; marrows, 6s to 12s a dozen; pumpkins, 6s to 8s a cwt.; pickling onions, ljd a lb.; swede turnips, Is a small bag; potatoes, 5s 6Jd a sugar bag; and tomatoes, 3s to 5s 6d a case; rhubarb sold at 5s a dozen bundles; citron melons at 8s to 9s a cwt.; and watermelons at 9d to Is 6d each. Fruit was in very heavy supply and prices ruled low. Apples realised 4s to 6s a case, and 2s to 3s a half-case; peaches, 3s to 4s a case; and grapes Is a small chip and 2s 3d a large chip. Baled hay sold at 3s 6d a bale in lots.
