NORTHCOTE NEWS

SUCCESSFUL GARDEN FETE A successful garden fete was held in the Northcote Presbyterian Church grounds on Saturday afternoon. The Rev. L. S. Booth, in opening the fete, expressed gratification at the large number of adherents and friends present. The various stalls, under the ladies, did good business, and the final results exceeded all anticipations. In the near future a new church is to be erected, and the present one removed and converted into a social hall. The sum of £620 is in hand, and the new building will be in keeping with the progress of the district. A resident of Northcote, whilst fishing on Saturday evening in close proximity to the sewer outfall of the point, succeeded in hooking a monster shark. After a long tussle it was eventually secured, and towed and lifted on to the Northcote wharf. It measured Bft 6in in length, and attracted considerable attention on Sunday by visitors and residents.
