BIRKENHEAD RUGBY CLUB

The Birkenhead United Football Club held its annual meeting in the Foresters’ Lodge room on Thursday evening. Mr. A. Speed was in the chair. The balance sheet showed a small credit, mainly through the success of socials held during the year. The club had two grades last year, but this season owing to the number of players available it was decided ro have four grades—second, third, fourth, and fifth. This speaks well for this young club, which is only in its second year. It was decided to try and get a playing ground in the district, and with this end in view, Mr. W. E. Patterson was appointed to wait on Mr. J. W. Court with reference to a paddock on his property in Glenfield Road. The election of officers was as follows: Club patron, Mr. W. E. Patterson; president, Mr. A. Speed; vice-pre-sidents, Messrs. Fisher. J. Turvey, R. E. Stott, H. Boles, H. Hayward, F. H. Woodhouse, R. O. White, J. Court, R. G. Boyd. T. Smith, E. G. Skeates; secretary,” Mr. G. Sowden; assistantsecretary, Mr. R. Adam; committee, Messrs. M. Fisffier, W. E. Patterson, J. W. Clark. J. Neal, C. W. Walker; club captain, Mr. W. E. Patterson; delegates to A.F.A., Messrs. J. W. Clarke, C. W. Walker.
