HINCHCLIFFE HOPS OFF
UNKNOWN DESTINATION SIGHTED OVER IRELAND Bp Cable. Press Associatioji. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. The "Evening News” states that Captain Hinchcliffe left Cranwell airdrome for an unknown destination. His machine was fully fuelled for a non-stop flight of 3,000 miles. A later message says that he is bound for Ireland, where he will await favourable weather before attempting to fly the Atlantic. Captain Hinchcliffe was reported later to have passed Mizen Head, County Cork, flying westwards.—Sun. Captain Hinehclift'e’s manager subsequently announced that the airman began an attempt to fly the Atlantic at 8.45 a.m. to-day. A message on Thursday said that Captain Hinchcliffe and the Hon. Elsie Mackay, third daughter of Viscount Inchcape. proposed to fly the Atlantic from east to west. The following day however, the story was denied. Miss Vtackav saving that she had only a small fl.fjnrU ill interest in Hlnclnliffe’s flight. Mvsterv surrounded the proposed flight but it was thought that it would be either across the Atlantic or to India.
