ISLAND COMMERCE

TRADE DELEGATES VISIT NOT A SALES EXCURSION Before the Auckland Chamber of Commerce sends two delegates on the specially arranged business trip to the Islands by the new Government steamer Maui Pomare, it requires the assurance of the Department of Industries and Commerce that the trip is not to be a sales excursi<yn and that the samples carried will be for exhibition only. The opinion of the chamber is that as far as possible, the delegates should be representative men without personal interest in prosecuting trade with the Islands, but able to give efficient business reports of the conditions. It should be an official and informative trip, and not a commercial travellers’ competitive expedition.
