REPORTS FROM KOWEIT IBN SAUD’S EFFORTS FOR PLACE By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. CAIRO, Friday. The Sheik Hafiz Wahba, who has arrived from Koweit, where he endeavoured to negotiate a settlement, contradicts the report that the King of the Wahabis, Ibn Saud, has declared a holy war or is militarily assisting tribesmen. On the contrary they say Ibn Saud is making efforts to quieten the tribesmen who have revolted and against ■whom the British have made air raids. In official quarters, according to a message from London, the stories of threatened Arab risings against Irak and Transjordania are regarded as being much exaggerated. It is pointed out the reported intenion of Ibn Saud, King of the Hedjaz and Nejd, and leader of the Wahabis, shortly to visit Mecca, minimises apprehension concerning him, because he would never leave his capital if he were brewing trouble. The indications are that the Dominions Office is ready to discuss with Ibn Saud matters he thinks are in need of redress. —A. and N.Z.
