LIVE RABBIT SKINNED

MAN’S BRUTAL ACT Press Association . INVERCARGILL, Wednesday. In the Police Court this morning before justices of the peace Robert Dodds, farm labourer, was charged with skinning a rabbit alive. The proceedings were taken by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. A boy aged 12 stated that Dodds had put a ferret into a hole and caught the rabbit, which he held between his legs and skinned while it was still alive. The boy alleged that the rabbit then ran back to the hole, a distance of about 30yds, with its skin off. In imposing a fine of £5 the Bench informed Dodds he was getting off lightly.
