CHEQUE WORKERS
TRADESMEN VICTIMISED MEN FACE MANY CHARGES OPERATIONS IN SUBURBS William Seholes, aged 37, who escaped from lawful custody on July 27 last year, and was arrested three weeks ago, faced a number of charges at the Police Court to-day. Seholes, in addition to the charge of making his escape, was charged on three counts with obtaining money and goods valued at £24 by means of valueless cheques. He was also charge dwith theft of a cheque-book. Jointly with Edwin Andrew Simpson, aged 29, he was charged on 19 counts with obtaining money and goods valued at £l4O by means of valueless cheques. The cheques were issued in February, suburban tradesmen, for the most part, being victimised. The accused pleaded guilty to all charges and were committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
