NEW SETTLERS

SUCCESS IN HORAHORA VISIT BY MINISTER .(From Our Own Correspondent) ROTORUA, To-day. A visit to the new settlement in the Horahora district was made by the Hon. O. J. Hawken, Minister of Agriculture, yesterday. He was accompanied by his private secretary, Mr. W. E. Shanley, Mr. F. F. Hockly, M.P., Messrs. H. P. Ford, chairman of the County Council, and H. M. Martin; also Messrs. J. Banks, J. Roberts and R. B. Nesbitt, members of the executive of the Rotorua Chamber of Commerce. The members of the party were the guests of Mr. Parsons, who conducted the Minister over his own farm. The Minister expressed himself gratified at the progress made by the settlers since the block was opened last June. The farms all bore evidence of successful treatment and natural fertility. The question of opening another block nearer Rotorua was raised, and the Minister promised to give the suggestion consideration.
