WHICH JAMES LARKIN?
IRISH ELECTION PUZZLE By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Sunday. The “Daily Mail” says that the Free State Parliament is asking the committee of Privileges and Procedure to decide whether the James Larkin, the Communist, who was elected for North Dublin in the general election of 1927, is the James Larkin who was adjudicated bankrupt in 1924. It is pointed out that one James Larkin, who was elected for North Dublin, has never claimed his seat. Another James Larkin, whose description on the nomination papers coincided with that of the other, was not elected when he stood for Dublin County. Nobody is able to say whether the siiccessful candidate is the notorious strike leader or his son. The former, at the date of the election poll, was still an undischarged bankrupt and ineligible for election. —A. and N.Z.
