NORTHERN DOG TRIALS

BAY OF ISLANDS CLUB The annual meeting of the Bay of Islands County Dog Trial Club was held at Ohaewai on Saturday night last. Mr. Edgar Smith presided over a good attendance of members. The president, when presenting the report and balance sheet, stated that including funds in bank the club had a credit balance of £62 9s lOd. Mr. Broad gave a brief report dealing with the forthcoming championship meeting in June. The Whangarei Club was of the opinion it would be able to manage without financial assistance from the neighbouring affiliated clubs, but if the optimistic plans did not materialise he promised the Whangarei executive that this club would, if necessary, give a donation not exceeding £l2. It was decided to hold the trials on April 27 and 28 next, and to advise the Broadwood Club. The membership fee was retained at ss. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. S. H. Ludbrook (reelected): president, Mr. Edgar Smith (re-elected); vice-presidents, Messrs. A. C. Hingston. T. Bassett, D. Douglas, A. Faithful, senr., T. Jephcoate, W. G. Killen. W. May, E. Morfette, H. H. Mountain, W. G. Mountain, J. O.rr, W. Pearson, W. C. Raikes, P. Studholm, J. Wells and M. J. Whitelaw; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. J. Worthington; auditor, Mr. R. D. McLean: committee, Messrs. Geo. White, H. R. Bindon, J. E. White, A. Harpham, J. Sturge, A. Baldwin, C. Ludbrook. J. Ludbrook, E. Cook, F. Hinsgton, T. B. Mooney, J. Harris and E. G. Broad. A hearty vote of thanks to all outgoing officers was passed. The meeting then went into committee, when it was decided to adopt the programme of last year with three events: 1. head, pull and hold in ring, about 600yds; 2, head, pull or drive and yard, about 400yds; 3, huntaway, about 440yds. First prize, £4: second. £3, third, £2; and fourth, £l. Entry fee, 5s 6d for each event for members and 7s 6d for non-members. The trophies are to be allocated as usual.
