POKAPU BEATS KAIKOHE A month ago, when the Pokapu Club visited Kaikohe and was defeated by 9 1 games for the Xo. 2 Grace Cup, its captain stated it would not be long before i the club paid another visit in quest of the trophy. On Saturday last, Pokapu fulfilled its promise of returning and defeated the home team by nine matches to seven. Mr. Guy, in handing the cup to the victors, and congratulating them on their win, told them that they would have to ; defend their right to hold the trophy against the Rawene and Okaihau Clubs, who had entered challenges. If the Pokapu Club was successful, it could rely on Kaikohe paying it a visit to recover the cup, if possible. The following are the scores, the Pokapu players being mentioned first: — Men’s Doubles.—C. Steadman won from P. Erlich, 6—2, 6—2, 6—2; G. Davies lost to Rev. Mr. Ryburn, 2—6, 3—6; A. Young lost to B. Berry, 5—6, 5 —6; R. Steadman lost to J. B. Scott, 2—6, 6—4, 3—6. Women’s Singles.—Mrs. McKenzie beat Miss Black, 6—3, 6 —4; Miss Cleary lost to Mrs. Alcock, 6—2, I—6, o—6; Miss Davis lost to Miss G. Pausina, 3—6, 2—6; Miss Mander beat Miss Routley, 6—3, 6—2.
