By Cable.—-Press Association.-*—Copyright. SYDNEY, Friday. The net gain in migration to Australia last year was 48,921 persons, according to figures issued by the Commonwealth Bureau of Statistics. The excess of arrivals over departures included 38,000 people of British nationality, 1,200 Gifeeks, 6,500 Italians, 1,000 Yugoslavs, and 300 Maltese, making altogether 18 per cent, of the excess in the arrivals. —A. and N.Z.
