LATE TURF

Sensational Run by Native Chief RECORD FOR ADDINGTON READY TO MEET GREAT BINGEN (Special to THE SUX.J CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. That the brilliant miler Native Chief is at the top of his form he demonstrated at Addington on Saturday, when he traversed a mile in the remarkably good time of 2.2. For .some time past admirers of the Logan Pointer —Regina de Ora gelding, Native Chief, have expressed a belief that he would sooner or later cut out a mile in .two minutes, and there is no doubt, judging from his latest track achievement, that Native Chief is getting appreciably close to that mark. Fie has often reeled off a half in a minute or a tick under, but when the gelding left a mile behind at Addington on Saturday in 2.2 he not only set the track on lire, but also set the town talking. It was the fastest mile ever registered at Addington. the half-mile disc being reached in 58, and the final half in 1.4. The ensational run has added immensely to the interest in the Great Bingen Native Chief match at Christchurch on Saturday.
