NATIVE SCHOOLS

TEACHERS’ CONFERENCE The Native School Teachers’ Association will open its annual conference at the Y.M.C.A. at 10.30 to-morrow morning. Teachers from all parts of the Auckland Province and other North Island centres will attend, representatives coming from 140 native schools. As well as the routine business, which will be practically completed to-morrow. Dr. Ada Paterson, director of school hygiene, and Dr. Ellison, director of Maori hygiene, will attend on Thursday, and give lectures, and the Education Department has expressed the hope that a scheme of health instruction in native schools, as well as medical inspection, may be the outcome of these addresses. All those interested in such instruction are invited to attend the conference on Thursday.
