UNDERGROUND STREAM T APPED BY SUMP

WORK ABANDONED At the meeting of the Mount Roskill Rood Board on Tuesday evening the engineer reported that for the purpose of carrying off the storm water in Duke Street a sump had been sunk to a depth of 27ft through solid rock and holes bored to a depth of 32ft, when water started to come up from the bottom disclosing the existence of an underground stream. Work on the sump was consequently discontinued. It was decided to request the Wesley Trustees to divert the storm water from the Duke Street area,, the hoard to provide catchment pipe to the sump.
