death of bather FATALITY AT BLOCKHOUSE BAY While bathing yesterday afternoon at Blockhouse Bay, Thomas Pickens, o{ Bollard Avenue, Avondale, collapsed in the water and was drowned. Hi* body was found later in the afternoon, but by that time all hope of resuscitation was impossible. Mr. Pickens, who was 74 years old, and a retired farmer, went in bathing alone on an unfrequented part of the beach.
