TE KUITI FIRE FIGHTER

FAREWELL PRESENTATION Prior to their departure for Opotiki, a farewell social was tendered to Mr. H. Stewart, deupty-superintendent of he Te Kuiti volunteer fire brigade, and his family, by the brigade members and friends. Superintendent J. Henderson, on behalf of the brigade, presented Mr. Stewart with a handsome portmanteau, Mrs. Stewart being the recipient of a travelling rug. Mr Stewart was the holder of the New Zealand record for the ladder race, and his keen interest in the brigade will be greatly missed. Mrs. Stewart was a prominent member of the Civic League and an enthusiastic worker in all the brigade’s social activities. Fireman H. Higgins has been appointed deputy-superintendent in place of Mr. Stewart.
