HOUSE DESTROYED

FIRE NEAR PENROSE A six-roomed house in Great South Road, near Penrose, was totally destroyed by a Are which broke out shortly after 4.30 o’clock this morning. A little furniture was saved. The occupier, Mr. K. J. McKinon, along: with his wife and two children, was forced to escape in his night attire. The Ellerslie and One Tree Hill Fire Brigades were called out, but the fire had obtained too good a hold, and the house was destroyed in a short time. It was insured for £ 600.
