IRAQ REJECTS TREATY
JAFAR PASHA RESIGNS By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. * LONDON, Tuesday. The Bagdad correspondent of the “Daily Mail” reports that the Iraq Cabinet has rejected the proposed treaty between Britain and Iraq. The Prime Minister, Jafar Pasha, has resigned, and Abdul Saadun is forming a new Cabinet. —Sun. A message from Cairo on December 19 said: The treaty between Britain and Iraq contains 16 articles. A summary of these is as follows:—Britain recognises Iraq as an independent sovereign State; and peace and friendship will exist between the respective monarchs. The high contracting parties engage to maintain friendly relations, each doing its utmost to prevent all illegal actions in its country that might be calculated to have a repercussion upon the peace and order of the other country. Britain undertakes to support Iraq as a candidate for membership of the League of Nations in 1932, provided the present level of progress has been maintained and that things go well in the meantiztM in Iran.
