BIG PRIZE MONEY OFFERED DOMINION SPEED CUP The Southland Motor Association is holding a big racing meeting at the Mate-Awai-Awai Beach, near Invercargill, on March 3. Both motorcycle and motor-car events are scheduled and a total of £4OO will be distributed in prize money. The motor-cycle events include one of nine miles for 500 c.c. machines, and two races, one of 15 miles, the other of nine miles, for any machine. The car events include one for standard model touring cars of 15 miles, one for light cars (up to 2,000 c.c.), of nine miles, and what is called the Sidey Championship (for light cars up to 2,000 c.c.), of 18 miles. The premier event on the programme, however, is the Dominion Speed Cup, over a distance of 24 miles (eight laps, 15 turns), the first prize for which is £l5O and a miniature cup. The second prize is £25 and the third £lO. Entries close at Invercargill on February 18.
