TIVOLI

t “THE RED RAIDERS” The entertaining and clever Ken Maynard, handsomest of Western stars has the role of Lieutenant John Scott in “The Red Raiders,” a First National picture dealing with the settlement of the Indian North-West and trials of the white pioneers. Based on a real chapter of early history the plot is an extremely interesting one which holds suspense from the inception to the final fade-out. Maynard has the very happy knack of investing his most serious roles with the delightful lightness and sly humour, and his taking smile is one of his greatest assets. The atmosphere of this fine production is really fascinating, especially the shots of the Indian reservation at Montana, wherein two thousand Indians, members of the Sioux and Crow tribes, participate. Ann Drew has the leading feminine role and is refreshingly free from any affectations. How Maynard, handsome sheikh, as well as incomparable horseman, succeeds in winning the fair heroine makes a really absorbing tale. The attack by Ihe Indians on the white settlement is amazingly realistic, holding the interest by its vivid presentation, and affording an insight into the diabolically clever methods of warfare practised by these tribes.
