PUPILS’ CONCERT AT DIOCESAN SCHOOL

A delightful concert was given last evening by pupils of the Diocesan High School and friends in aid of the fund for buying and equipping new playing grounds. . An orchestral selection was the opening number of the programme, the performers being Miss A. Stevenson, Miss Phillips, Miss Thompson, Miss Braine, Miss Tiarks, and Mr. K, Fenton. The school orchestra of young violinists also gave items much enjoyed by the large assembly of visitors. A pretty scene, “Nursery Rhymes in Character," was presented by the junior girls. The chorus singing was sweet and tasteful. an‘d the acting well done. Miss Boucher and Miss Coe, as shepherd and shepherdess respectively, gave a pleasing oldfashioned dance, which was accompanied by Miss A. Hansard, who sang a shepherdess’s song. Senior pupils were heard in gipsy songs and choruses under the leadership of Miss Roskin as soloists. This was one of the most popular features of the entertainment. Songs by Miss Hoskin and Miss A. Hansard were also greatly appreciated. Miss Roberts gave piano solos, and pupils of Miss M. Johnson were seen in Greek poses and a cymbal dance.
