LADIES’ EVENING IMr. "VV. J. ■ Brinsden, Worshipful Master of Lodge United Service, No. 10, assisted by Mrs. Brinsden, received the large- number of members and then feminine friends who attended the ver> successful ladies' evening held on Saturday in the Masonic Hall. Wearing a charming frock of pis-tachio-green georgette attractively trimmed with ruched satin in a matchiny tone, Mrs. Brinsden made a graci- | ous hostess. During the evening a delightful Programme was contributed and included songs by Mrs. Hemming'way, Miss Nellie Shirtcliffe, Miss Beryl Smith, Mr. W . Meredith and Mr. Gumming; a violin solo by Miss Oberg and recitati#ns and humorous items by Professor Maxwell Walker and Mr. Gillespie. Miss May Roberts and Mr. Egerton acted as accompanists. Mrs. W. Tailby. made a successful little speech in response to the toast of “The Ladies,” proposed by Mr. Brinsden. After the programme proper had been enjoyed dancing was indulged in, with an amusing selection of items interspersed. The artists contributing to this part of the programme included the Misses jDallas Lethaby and Elva Parr, who gave a coster duo; Miss Isabelle Brook, who was seen in a spirited Hungarian dance; Miss P. Holmes, whose offering was a graceful Grecian dance; Miss Kitty Smallbone, in a pretty ballet dance; Miss Iris Black, in a Spanish dance, and Mr. Ban Flood, who provided some humorous numbers'. The hall was charmingly decorated in an original way, the work having been done by Mr. Swan, who had transformed the supper room into a beautiful garden of flowers. The musicians’ stand, on the stage, was a cool-looking place with its masses of greenery and sparkling coloured lights, which appeared again in a pretty design across the ceiling, where lycopodium in feathery beauty was thrown about. Among those present were: Mrs. W. Tailby, in a frock of French grey georgette inset with lace. Mrs. McKay, frock of navy blue marietto relieved with white. Mrs. Henderson, moonlight blue frock of georgette. Mrs. Bixon, Naples blue frock of satin with trimming of silver. Mrs. Scott, silver beaded frock of petunia georgette. Mrs. Newbury, frock of white georgette with diamante trimming. Mrs. A. Tailby, rose du Barri crepe de chine panelled with gold lace. Mrs. Clark, gold trimmed frock of black georgette. Mrs. Hutchins, frock of navy blue crepe de chine. Mrs. McKinnon, frock of black georgette. Mrs. C. H. Osmond, black frock of satin faconne: Mi*s. Parker, frock on Nankin blue crepe eliso belted with cherry velvet. Mrs. Wright, frock of pale fuchsia georgette with crystal beading. Mrs. Bentley, frock of rose du Barri crepe alonza.
