A little vaseline is an excellent thing for leather furniture. Rub it well in, leave for some hours, then polish with a soft (luster. Jam will not go mouldy if the parchment rounds which cover it are soaked j in milk before being used. Fine linen that is not in constant use should be wrapped in blue paper, as this helps to preserve its colour. Handkerchiefs need no ironing if they are spread out quite flat on a tiled wall or mirror when they are still wet after washing. To remove the smell of smoking from a room leave a large bowl of water there for some hours. To give glassware a special brilliance wash it in blue water; then dry and polish off with a soft cloth.
