PUMICE LANDS RESPONSIVE The libera] use of a suitable phosphatic fertiliser is of paramount importance in the manuring of grass land in the province. This was one of the decisions reached by the conference of agricultural instructors. Pumice lands had been found to be more responsive to superphosphate than basic slag and ground rock phosphates, but the heavier soils, with heavier rainfalls, had given the best results with the slower-acting phosphates.
