GERMAN BUDGET
BIG NEW BATTLESHIP FIRST OF SERIES Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Friday. The Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Mail'’ says that Germany’s 1928 naval budget includes a credit of £650,000 as the first instalment on a battleship costing £4,000,000. This will be the first of a series replacing old capital ships of the high seas fleet. The “Frankfurter Zeitung” points out that the Versailles Treaty forbids warships exceeding 10,000 tonq, and urges Germany to concentrate on small, swift cruisers instead of costly battleships.—Sun.
