ATHLETE INJURED
CRASH ON MOTOR-CYCLE (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Swerving to avoid a cyclist about 6 p.m. on Saturday, K. R. Johnston, Ashburton, drove his motor-cycle on to the footpath and crashed into a fence. He was taken to Christchurch Hospital with a dislocated shoulder, and was discharged yesterday afternoon. Johnston, who came to Christchurch about three weeks ago to train for the Canterbury athletic trials, gained a place in the team which will contest the quarter-mile New Zealand championship this week, beating C. J. Thompson in a challenge race on Friday evening. The accident will prevent him from running again for two or three weeks at least.
