MR. AMERY AT MT. COOK

CROSSING TO WEST COAST ENTHUSIASTIC OVER SCENERY especial to THE SUN.) THE HERMITAGE, Monday. The Secretary of State for the Dominions, Mr. L. S. Amery, Mrs. Amery and party arrived at the Hermitage on Saturday evening. Mr. Amery and five members of the party left for Ball Hut and Tasman Glacier at mid-day on Sunday. Weather permitting they will go to Haast Hut and will climb from there. The party will probably return to the Hermitage on Thursday, when Mr. Amery’s party will cross to the West Coast by the Copeland Pass to join Mrs. Amery’s party, who will go to the Franz Josef Glacier, via Hokitika, on Friday. The weather shows signs of changing, but it is perfect now. The visitors are enthusiastic regarding the scenery.
