ON THE MANUKAU

YACHT CLUB’S OPENING A fresh south-west breeze prevailed for the official opening of the Manukau Yacht Club’s season. Races were held both for launches and yachts. The smaller boats had a rather unpleasant time in an endeavour to keep right side up. Races were sailed under sealed handicaps, the results being:— Yachts.—Betty. 3h 39m 28s, 1 ; Limelight. 3h 42m 12s; 2: Sea Toiler, 3h 42m 20s, 3. Launches.—Mamselle, 1. Rosita. 2. A.H.8., 3. The speed-boat, Rosita. got away in good style, and made a wonderful showing in the heavy water, completing the course in 30 minutes. But for engine trouble the first time up she would have won easily.
