A POPULAR PRIEST

TRANSFERRED TO OTAHUHU The Rev. Father W. C. J. M. Dunphy, of the Roman Catholic Church, Paeroa, was honoured by the pupils of the convent on Wednesday, who had gathered together to bid the rev. father good-bye and present him with a handsome travelling rug. Father Dunphy succeeded the late Rt. Rev. Monsignor Hacket, who, a few years ago, was transferred to Ellerslie, Auckland. Father Dunphy is leaving for Otahuhu. On behalf f of the pupils Master C. Nielson made the presentation and referred to the rev. father in the highest praise for the good work he had done in teaching the gospel of truth. The rev. father, in feeling and kindly words, thanked those present for the gift. A public farewell will be tendered him on Wednesday next, and he leaves for Otahuhu on Thursday.
