ROTORUA BOY SCOUTS
ANNUAL BALL The annual ball of the Rotorua Boy Scouts took place on Wednesday evening, when about 80 couples spent a most pleasant evening. The scouts were drawn up for inspection under the command of Scoutmaster Hawkins. The judge, Mr. D. George, had a very hard task in deciding the best-dresesd scouts, being unable to separate J. Sharpe and A. Allen m the senior grade. In the juniors, L. Southwick was awarded first with F. Clubb a close second. The boys made a most impressive display, reflecting credit on the scoutmaster. Among the fancy dresses the following prizes were awarded, the judges being Mrs. Hitchcock (Rotorua) and Miss Benton (Napier): ! The Mayoress, Mrs. McDowell, presented the prizes won during the evening. Mrs. Clinkard presented 10 King’s Scout badges won by the troop. The business people presented most of the prizes, to whom the thanks of the association are due, and also to the ladies for an excellent supper. The music was supplied by Hunter's orchestra, Mr. J. Duff acting as M.C. Most original: Miss Robinson (Christmas cracker). Girls’ fancy dress: Over 7. Thelma Horton (Autumn); under 7, Miss Fitzgerald (Irish girl). Boys: Over 7, D. Southwick (archer); under 7, R. Clubb (Christinas tree). Waltz competition: Miss Bradley and Mr. N. Parata. Monte Carlo: Miss Matheson and Mr. Bould. Spot dance: Miss Steele and Mr. F. Smith.
