BRAND FOR N.Z. GOODS

GOVERNMENT PURCHASES DRANDING New Zealand goods so that there would be no doubt as to the country of origin was discussed by the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Conference at its concluding session yesterday. The question cf choosing a brand which manufacturers of New Zealand goods could stamp in their wares when they wished to distinguish them as New Zealand-made was referred to by the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. The conference endorsed the recommendation that in government specifications New Zealand goods should be preferred and that where “British” goods are specified the words “New Zealand-made” for preference should be added.
