AGED WOMAN’S PLIGHT

IN BLAZING HOUSE RESCUED BY SON Press Association. DARGAVILLE, To-day. At- 2.30 this morning a large house owned by Mr. Walter Faithfull, sen., on the outskirts of the town, was, with its contents, totally destroyed by fire. The only occupants at the time of the outbreak was Mrs. Faithfull, who is old and in bad health. A son who lives nearby was awakened by the glare of the fire, and had great difficulty in rescuing his aged mother from the burning building.

Owing to lack of water in the vicinity and the hold the fire had when the alarm was given, the brigade could do nothing. Insurances are not available.
