TO ENTHRONE CAROL
REVELATION OF PLOT EX-MINISTER’S DIARY By Cable.—Press Association. — Copymght. BUCHAREST, Friday. J At a conference with journalists the Under-Secretary of State for the Interior, M. G. Tataraseu, said the examination of M. Manoilescu, formerly Under-Secretary of Finance, who was recently arrested on his return from Paris, had now been concluded, and it was possible to publish the proofs i ;of the facts which led to his arrest, j Letters and telegrams found in his possession gave the whole plan of the campaign to overthrow the dynasty and to restore Prince Carol to the throne. According to M. Manoilescu’s dairy, action was first taken on July IS. “It is clear,” he wrote, “that Prince Carol desires to return if possible before his son Michael has been proclaimed King. I think he is right.” M. Manoilescu was waiting for his final instructions from Paris for the campaign, which was arranged to be begun in November. The conspirators communicated with each other in code. The Government, said the Minister, held proofs of the plot from M. Manoilescu’s own hand.—A. and N.Z.Sun.
