Mandates Commission Eulogises New Zealand Rule in Samoa

HEALTH AND EDUCATION By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 1.10 p.m. GENEVA, Friday. The Mandates Commission has concluded its examination of the Samoa report. Sir James Parr, New Zealand High Commissioner, is returning to London to-night. The commission referred eulogistically to New Zealand’s efforts in the general administration of Samoa, particularly in health and education. Sir James Parr answered a number of questions respecting the selling price of copra. He explained that the Administration encourages the natives to produce the best quality of copra, whereas the private trader buys ail qualities for the same price. The Administration’s experimental shipments to London promise good results for the producer. The chairman, thanking Sir James Parr, said the commission would await the report of the Royal Commission before expressing an opinion. He invited the New Zealand Government, when forwarding the report, to supply its own views on it, also the steps it intends to take. —A. and N.Z.
