PROMINENT OLD CHIEF DIES AT RUAMATA

A VERY well known Maori chief, ***■ Tamihana Tikitere, passed away on Friday evening at Ruamata, near Rotorua.

He was always prominent in the displays given by the Maori race to prominent visitors. An able leader, his influence with his people was a factor to the building of the meeting-house known as Uenukukopako, situated about four miles out from Rotorua, on the Te Ngae Road. A large tangi is being held, visitors arriving from all parts of the district.
