INSPECTION OF ALL INSTALLATIONS

POWER BOARD’S DUTY Government regulation imposes on the Auckland Power Board the duty of inspecting each installation of electricity once in five years and it has about 40,000 to do. The general manager suggested to the board yesterday that it was time the inspections were begun and that four inspectors should be appointed to go round bringing the installations up to the standard set in the regulations. It would cost £ 3,000 a year to do the work and he suggested a charge of 5s for each consumer on inspection of each installation. The board decided to defer the appointments until considering the next scale of rates.
